In Memory Of
Ruth "Evelyn" Pontius
1926 - 2016
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Lawrence Pontius and her son, Martin Lawrence Pontius.
She is survived by two sisters, Kathryn Toombs, Mt. Vernon, IL, and Louise Olsa, San Clemente, CA. Daughters Julie Dixon (Mike), Olathe, KS and Pamela Pontius (Ed Reinkens), Oakville, WA, daughter-in-law, Debby Cowin, Overland Park, KS granddaughter, Megan Lee Pontius, Overland Park, KS, grandsons William L. Weddington II, Olathe, KS and Blake A. Dixon (Kristy Hubbard), Olathe, KS, and the loves of her life, her great-grandchildren, Foster Logan Weddington, Piper Lauren Weddington and Bailee Grace Dixon, all of Olathe.
Evelyn was the best mother, grandmother and grammy God could have given us. She served her church of over 50 years in different ways. She worked in the church food pantry and took Blake with her during his school breaks. We are all better people for having her as our mom, grandma, and grammy. She nurtured us all in many ways.
The family would like to thank all of her caregivers from Catholic Community Hospice, Amy, Suzanne, Bonnie, Lisa, Cassie, Betsy, Karen (with her beautiful voice), Patricia (with her amazing massages and comfort), Danna who gave her wonderful baths and comfort, and Colleen, her nurse that took such wonderful care of her and was with her when she passed. Colleen was a good support to us all and a special friend. We will never forget any of these special people and the blessings they bestowed on us.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christian Family Services in care of the church.
