Larry was born August 14, 1943 in Leesville, LA to Calvin and Lola Franke. He was raised in San Antonio, TX and graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1964 - 1971, where he did two tours in Vietnam and received numerous decorations including 13 Air medals, a Bronze Star, and a Purple Heart. He was a proud member of the Quiet Birdman Association, and the American Legion Post #153.
Larry married Debra Rodman August 12, 1989 and they lived in Olathe, KS. He worked in the aviation industry and retired as the President of Avcon Industries.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years Debra Franke, his daughter Lea Nickell and husband Steven, step-son Brian Herkert and three grandchildren; Adelynn, Liam and Evey.
