Windle Lee Shelton

March 21, 1933 — December 8, 2023

Windle Lee "Red" Shelton, 90, of Olathe, Kansas, was welcomed into his heavenly home on Friday, December 8, 2023. He was born in Wheatcroft, Kentucky to Clay and Mary Edith (Reynolds) Shelton. He spent his final years in Olathe, Kansas to be closer to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In 1950-1953 he served in the US Army as a member of the elite Pathfinder Platoon of the 11th Airborne Division as Jump School and Leadership Cadreman, Senior Parachutist. He earned his Bachelor of Science & Commerce Degree in Marketing at the University of Louisville in 1967.

In 1955, Windle married Anna Geraldine Minyard and together they had three children, Dennis, Dale, and Gwen. Windle and Anna parted ways in 1981, and in 1982, Windle married Shirley Silvers Hall Shelton, who brought to the family, her son, Douglas Hall.

Windle, also known as "Red" by all of his GE friends, worked for The General Electric Company in Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales, Sales Training and Management, and Human Resource Development, for 35 years. During this time, he earned six GE corporate managerial awards for outstanding sales and customer service training and was a Top National Sales Award Winner. After retiring from General Electric, he developed his own business and served as President of Market Power Inc., developing experience-based sales and customer service training programs for Fortune 500 companies.

His hobbies included his daily regimen of walking, spending time with his grand and great grandchildren, reciting poems from memory, composing poems for special family member events, and cheering on the University of Kentucky Wildcats. He shared both his faith, and his political beliefs freely, and loved to engage in any political debate you threw at him. He was a devout Christian and a member of Bible Study Fellowship.

Windle is survived by his children, Dennis Shelton, Dale Shelton, Gwen Benegas (Douglas), Douglas Hall (Tina); grandchildren, Kristi (Fonz), Kelsey, Samuel, Hannah, Madison, Ryan, Chase (Morgan), Colby (Lindsey) and Charley; great grandchildren, Fonzy, Aidan, Avandar, Anna, Oliver, Oden, Wyatt, Walker and Hayden; and siblings, Ann Neeley, Donna Kramer, Patricia Durham, and Brenda Luke (Chuck) along with many much-loved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Shelton; siblings, Margie Anderson, Billy Ray Shelton, Paul Shelton Sr., Clay Shelton Jr., and granddaughter Samantha.
