Willis J. Biggerstaff

WILLIS J. BIGGERSTAFF, 85, passed away January 20, 2011 at his home in Olathe, KS. Services will be held on Thursday, January 27 at 7:00 pm at the First Christian Church, Olathe, with a reception immediately following the service. Memorials are suggested to the Deaf Culture Center or to the church.
Willis was born on February 8, 1925 in Mt. Ayr, Iowa to William and Mabel Biggerstaff. He graduated from Boone High School and went on to attend Boone Junior College. On June 13, 1945, he married Shirley Ann Moss in Shambaugh, Iowa. Willis was a Lieutenant with the United States Army Air Corps and worked for the Atomic Energy Commission. He retired from Bendix Corporation after more than thirty years of service. In his retirement, Willis enjoyed helping many auctioneers in the Kansas City area.
In his leisure he loved to participate in basketball, and in his older years, hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley, his children Linda (Larry) Evans, Willis "Bill" Biggerstaff, and Scott (Kathy) Biggerstaff, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings; Darlene, Mildred, Greta, Hazel, Ron and Don. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Norma.
