William W. Zacher

December 19, 1943 — November 18, 2020

William "Bill" Wilfred Zacher, 76, of Olathe, KS passed Wednesday November 18, 2020 at Olathe Medical Center. Cremation is planned with a private service.

Bill was born December 19, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri to Joseph and Karolina Zacher. He graduated from Bishop Miege High School in 1962 and then worked at the US Post Office until he was drafted into the Army in 1965. Bill was trained in MOS Ballistic Meteorology and was stationed in Hanau, Germany. But since they did not have a MOS unit he filled an open spot as a Supply Specialist. He completed his duty and received an Honorable Discharge.

Upon his return he went back to work for the Post Office for a short time before he moved to a new job at Kansas City Power & Light. Bill had a successful 40 year career at KCP&L. Starting as a Lineman and working his way into a corporate position where he retired as a Field Design Foreman.

Bill loved his family and truly enjoyed anything that involved his grandkids and great grandkids. Weekends were filled with grand and great grandkids games, birthdays and other activities. He was a big fan of the Chiefs, Royals and KU basketball. He enjoyed working in the yard, working on home projects and his garden. Bill also had great handyman skills and was always helping family and friends fix home problems or work on projects. Bill always enjoyed spending time with friends and in retirement catching up with past co-workers.

He was preceded in death by his parents;Sisters Freda, Mary, and Bertha; Brothers Joe, Martin, Bernard and George and a Great Grandson Logan.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years Veronica "Roni" Zacher his daughters Michelle(Paul), Johna(David), and Ronna;Sons Joe and Randy; Grandchildren Morgan, Mackenzie, Alicia, Sydney, Hope, Landon, Austin, Randy Jr, Danny(Ayla), Melody and Gaby(Marina); Great Grandchildren Hudson, Henry, and Garett; Brother Bobby and Sisters Jenny and Margaret.

Due to the current circumstances we will not be having a service at this time but plan to gather for a celebration of life when we can do so safely. Please feel free to donate to his favorite charities – St. Jude and The Veterans.
