William Harry Lewis

William "Pete" Harry Lewis, 96, of Louisville, KY passed away on October 26, 2018 in Olathe, KS surrounded by family. He was born on April 19, 1922 to Harry and Anna (Zoeller) Lewis in Louisville, KY.
Pete served in the US Army in the Pacific during WWII. He married Ruth Baker on Dec. 1, 1946. After 68 years of marriage, Ruth passed away on Jan. 28, 2015. Pete owned and operated Lewis' General Store, a fixture in the local community. He was a member of South Jefferson Baptist Church.
He is survived by his two sons, W. Larry (Lynn) Lewis, and Charles (Janine) Lewis; his sister, Mary Hedman; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Hines, Jacob Lewis, Christina Gatewood, and Adrianna Lewis; four great grandchildren, William Hines, Collin Hines, Selah Hines, and Lillian Gatewood.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018, at 3:00 pm at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Black Bob Rd., Olathe, KS 66062. Burial will occur in Bethany Memorial Cemetery in Louisville, KY (no service planned for Louisville).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to South Jefferson Baptist Church, 6505 Pendleton Rd, Louisville, KY 40272.
