William Jack Charles Moran

December 7, 1969 — February 20, 2020

William Jack Charles Moran, 50, of Olathe, passed away unexpectedly on February 20, 2020. He was born on December 7, 1969 in Ford Dodge, IA. He is the son of Floyd and Rosemary (Eisenmenger) Moran.

Bill enjoyed his early days growing up in the countryside of Iowa. He spoke fondly of days living at the lake, shoveling the house out of snow. The friendships and memories he made during that time, never faded over the years. Bill and his family moved to Olathe during his high school years. He attended and subsequently graduated from Olathe South High School in 1988. During his time in high school he was actively involved in vocal and band activities.

Bill enlisted in the Army during high school, and proudly served duty during Operation Desert Storm, then again during Operation Enduring Freedom.

Bill was a man of many talents and passions. After his military service, he worked in a variety of industries including, Catholic Charities, City Wide, and Sprint. At the time of his passing, Bill was a Workforce Analyst with Sprint in Overland Park, KS. Bill did not just work at his jobs but developed second families and met his loving wife through his work. Bill and Amy were married in a small, private ceremony on March 1, 2011. He kept the friendships developed wherever he worked and treasured all through his life.

Bill never knew a stranger and will be remembered as a big kid at heart. He enjoyed all things Whovian, shared a passion for superheroes with his wife and had a misplaced loyalty to Superman. He was a hardcore Chiefs fan and vocal during the games when he was displeased with the play calling or announcing. He was overjoyed and emotional when the Chiefs brought the title home this year. Many summers Bill would spend time camping with his family both in Kansas and in Minnesota. He was prepared for the Zombie Apocalypse and will be sad he misses it but has left specific survival instruction for his family and friends.

Bill had a strong Catholic faith and attended Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe, KS. He was more than willing and spent hours on end discussing theology with family, friends, and strangers. He also had very strong political beliefs yet respected everyone's opinions and appreciated hearing opposing views.

Bill's outgoing nature, ability to find humor in any situation, and his caring for all will be missed by everyone who knows him.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Amy Moran (Schmidt); children Summer Moran, Sheila "Alyssa" Collins, Malek Pledger, Joseph Moran, Rayvan Moran; parents Floyd and Rosemary Moran; brother and sister Scott Moran and Rebecca (Michael) Blackwell; father-in-law Charles (Carol) Schmidt, brother and sister in-law Melissa (Scott) Hendrickson, Chad Schmidt; four nieces. three nephews, five great nephews and his four-legged baby Daisy Mae.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Lorna Larson.
