WILLIAM "BILL" C. KLOHR, age 51, passed away January 7, 2013 in Olathe, KS. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 10 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S Blackbob Rd, Olathe, KS followed by a funeral service on Friday, January 11 at 10:00am, also in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, (Head and Neck Fund) 6700 Antioch Rd, Suite 100, Merriam, KS 66204.
Bill was born May 8, 1961 in Anderson, Indiana to David and Judith Klohr. The family moved to the Kansas City area in 1973 and he graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest in 1979. He went on to attend Baker University and pledged Sigma Phi Epsilon during his sophomore year. After graduation, Bill began working for Enterprise Leasing in Overland Park, and eventually transitioned into healthcare sales and recruiting. He was married to Sharon Booher in 1993, and together they made their home in Olathe.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon, his sons David Klohr and Brandon (Krystal) Booher, parents David and Judith Klohr, his brother Bob (Janice) Klohr, and grandsons James and Axyl. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Peggy Grogan and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Bill coached baseball with Olathe youth for over a decade. His players were like his family. His mentoring didn't stop with his own teams; he helped with the younger teams and new coaches as well. Through his community sports outreach, Bill touched more lives than he could know. His legacy in Olathe Youth Baseball will continue through the lives he influenced.
