William "Bill" Lee Gomerdinger
1933-2009
Funeral service for William Lee Gomerdinger, age 75 of Olathe, will be Thursday, March 19 at 10:00 am at Grace United Methodist Church, 11485 N. Ridgeview, Olathe, KS. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 18 at 6:00 pm at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Blackbob Rd., Olathe with Masonic Rites at 7:30 pm. Interment, Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Stanley. The family suggests memorials to the American Stroke Foundation, 5960 Dearborn, Mission, KS 66202, or to the church.
William passed away on Sunday, Mar 15, 2009 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on July 7, 1933 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Edward Edwin Gomerdinger and Mary Ruth Gomerdinger. He raduated from Lacyne Rural High School and Rockhurst College. He served our country in the U.S. Army, and began his career with the U.S. Postal Service in 1957, retiring in 1996 as a Postal Supervisor.
Bill was an active board member of the Shawnee Mission Federal Credit Union for 45 years, and served as President of the Board for 20 years. He and his wife, Shirley, were also long-time members of Grace United Methodist Church and the Kansas City Ski Club. In addition, Bill was an active member of the Stanley Masonic Lodge #444, and a member of the Dwight Cowles American Legion Post # 370.
He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Shirley, of the home, his sons William (Linda) Gomerdinger of Overland Park, KS, Geoffrey (Cindy) Gomerdinger, of Parker, CO, grandchildren Ashlee, Sean and Ryan. Also survived by his brothers Charles Gomerdinger and Paul Gomerdinger and his sister Kathy Antle.
