William E. Gainey

April 10, 1961 — April 1, 2014

William E. Gainey passed away April 1. He is survived by his wife, Marsha; two brothers Pat & Mike; two daughters Leslie & Jessica, and son Phillip; five step-children Jason, Matthew, Tanya, Zach, & Tyler; 12 grandchildren; many other relatives; and his beloved Huskie, Kyra.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Mary Alice & William Gainey; his sister Terri Gainey; and mother-in-law Irene Tucker.

Bill was born in Nebraska and grew up around Nebraska and South Dakota. Bill graduated from high school in Nebraska. Bill moved to the Kansas City area for Marsha seven years ago, eventually settling in Gardner.

Bill loved to laugh and took pride in his cooking. His family particularly looked forward to his holiday meals. He never met a stranger and will be missed by all who knew him. Bill loved his Nebraska Cornhusker football team and would be on the phone with his cousin, Mary, yelling at the team anytime they were losing. He was so proud of step-son, Tyler, who played football starting in 2nd grade.

Bill was the love of his wife, Marsha's life and was a wonderful and caring husband. Marsha says she doesn't know what she'll do without him.

Memorial services will be at 2 pm, Wed., April 9 at Indian Creek Community Church.
