CMSgt William "Bill" J. Daml, Sr, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather was promoted to Heaven on March 23rd, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on July 9th, 1939, in Cold Spring, Minnesota, Bill was the youngest of five children born to Peter Edward and Helen (Bloomer) Daml. He grew up in Anoka, Minnesota, graduating from Anoka High School.

Bill's career in the United States Air Force began in 1957. He served 22 years, ending his distinguished service in 1979 as the Senior Enlisted Adviser to the Wing Commander. During his time in the military, he met and married the love of his life, Helen (Taylor), while stationed at Truax Field, Wisconsin. Bill's career took him and his family around the world on many adventures, finally settling in North Pole, Alaska. After retirement from the Air Force, Bill worked for Atlantic Richfield at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska; finally retiring in Glenallen, Alaska where he worked for Copper Valley Telephone. Along the way, Bill and Helen made many lifelong friends, welcoming countless people into their home and hearts; often lovingly referred to as "adopted parents/grandparents."

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, along with his siblings; Ruby Cimaglia, Edward Daml, MaryAnn Hannig and Sr. Donata Daml. He is survived by his loving "Bride" Helen of over 64 years; children, Donata (Gary) Henderson, Bill Daml Jr., Edward (Michelle) Daml, Martine (Randy) Pommenville; grandchildren, Delaney and Easton Henderson, Olivia (David) Baker, Lindsey (Isaac) Masters, Taylor (Danielle) Daml, Mallory (Nick) Daml-Budhig, Camden and Jenna Pommenville; great-grandchildren, Estelle and Owen Baker, Dottie Daml; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Billy.

Bill- who never knew a stranger- leaves a legacy of generosity, compassion, and jovialness. Known for his great jokes, stories and the willingness to lend a helping hand, Bill will be remembered fondly by all. He walked proudly in the footsteps of Christ and was a light to those around him. His lifelong example of faith and love inspires us to cherish every moment, hold our loved ones close, and leave a trail of warmth and light.

His life will be celebrated on April 6th, 2024, at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Black Bob Rd, Olathe, Kansas. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, with a funeral service at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Olathe, Kansas with his "Money, Marbles and Chalk". In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Bill's memory to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, an organization that provides support to families of fallen soldiers. Details can be found at T2T.org.
