William Leon "Lee" Culver
William Leon "Lee" Culver passed away Saturday night, September 25, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital, from congestive heart failure.
Lee was born June 25, 1940 in Anaconda, Montana. He grew up in Sumner, Washington and lived in the Seattle area until he moved to Kansas City in 1990. His military service was in the Air Force from 1957 to 1962. He managed a parts store for many years then became a sales representative for engine rebuilding equipment. After moving to Kansas City he worked for Thermo-King, Scherer Truck & MPP until his retirement. A few of his many accomplishments included tennis, ski instructor, golf pro, flying airplanes and he was an accomplished musician playing the keyboard and accordion. He and his wife loved sports and the outdoors and were members of the FMCA Midwest Prairie Schooners RV Club.
Lee is preceded in death by his parents William and Ann Culver. He is survived by his wife of 16 years Janet Tozier Culver; daughter Tammy Culver of Puyallup, Washington; son, Tom Culver and his wife Michon of Sammamish, Washington; step-daughters Samantha and Stephanie Williams of Overland Park; a sister Ann Andrews of Puyallup, Washington; nephew John Andrews of Lenexa; niece, Arlie Aguirre of San Carlos, California and three grandchildren, Caden, Natalie and Angelina.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 30 at 11:00 am at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S Blackbob Rd. Olathe, KS where the family will receive friends an hour prior to service time. The family requests contributions to the American Heart Association or Animal Haven.
