WILLIAM "BILL" RAYMOND CHURCHMAN, JR.
Age 81, passed into the arms of the Lord on February 23, 2007 in Olathe, KS, surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27 at Grace United Methodist Church, 11485 N Ridgeview, Olathe, KS, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Interment, Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers , the family suggests memorials to the church.
Bill was born December 13, 1925 in Teeterville, KS to William, Sr., and Nellie Irene Churchman. The family moved to Edgerton
when Bill was in 7th grade, and he graduated from Edgerton High School in 1943. He served our country in the Army Air Corps in WWII, in Puerto Rico and British Guiana. He married Beatrice Oswalt on November 24, 1947 in Olathe, KS, where the couple made their home.
He was employed with Phillips Petroleum as an oil accountant, and retired in 1985. After retiring, he was a delivery driver for Security Title Company for 15 years.
Bill was a member of the Olathe (Grace) United Methodist Church for over 50 years, where he served in many capacities. He enjoyed hunting and fishing especially with his son and grandsons, his many camping and fishing trips to Colorado, and was a devout fan of KU basketball.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Beatrice, of the home, son William (Nancy) R. Churchman, III, Olathe, and daughter Julie (Michael) Burns, Kansas City, KS, sister Audrey Williams, Lawrence, KS, his grandchildren; Becky (Brian) Seidler, Matthew (Laura) Churchman, Alex Churchman, Shelby Burns, and Alexis Burns., and two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Brooklyn Seidler.
Bill's greatest joy in life was his family. We will hold his memory in our hearts.
