Bill Clair 1954-2023
Bill Clair, 69, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on December 2, 2023. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, who will be deeply missed.
Bill was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1954 to mother Lois Ryan. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School in his hometown. He graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas with a Bachelor's in Business Administration. In 2008, he also earned his MBA from MidAmerica Nazarene University.
Bill served as the Business Administrator for College Church of the Nazarene before becoming the Vice President of Finance at MidAmerica Nazarene University. He recently retired from AIG as a Financial Advisor.
In his personal life, he found the love and forgiveness of God early in his teens through his local Nazarene church and committed to following Christ, remaining faithful during seasons of joy and hardship. In 1982, he married his love Sharon Lunn. Over the next few years, they had two daughters and continued to invest in the Olathe and College Church communities, finding ways to extend the grace and inclusivity he experienced from his relationship with God.
Throughout his life, Bill prioritized spending time with family, serving his church community, and staying active. He attended many of his daughters' sports games, plays, and concerts throughout their upbringing, as well as going on multiple family trips. At College Church of the Nazarene, he served in multiple roles outside of his official job; he was an usher, board member, and nursery worker. He also had a pivotal role in organizing and playing games of basketball, tennis, and pickleball within the Olathe community. When not doing these things, he could frequently be found cheering on the Chiefs and Jayhawks. In the past seven years, Bill dedicated more and more of his time to his three grandsons.
Bill will always be remembered for his encouragement, servant-heart, and humor.
Bill was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jim Ryan, brother, Steve Clair, and sister in law, Kathy Lunn. He is survived by wife of 41 years, Sharon, daughters, Ashley (Kendall) Johnson, and Aubrey (Taylor) Parker and her three sons, Maverick, Wilder, and Jackson; his mother, Lois, and his siblings Jerry (Marcia) Clair, Tony (Tina) Sykora, Mike (Beth) Sykora.
