Wayne attended St. Louis schools and graduated from McKinley High School in 1955 with a small scholarship to play football at Southern Illinois University. At this time, he was engaged to Virginia Koester and they were married on December 1, 1956 in St. Louis, Mo.

Wayne went to work for Johnson Wax and was transferred to Olathe, Ks in 1976. He retired from there in 1986 and worked for Intertech Book in Overland Park, Ks until he retired in 1996.

Pop's loved his family and the times spent with them brought him so much joy. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Fishing with his sons and family through the years at Bennett Springs, Mo was a yearly event and because he and the boys loved fishing, there were numerous trips to Canada. He spent many years hunting deer, turkey and pheasant. With his favorite place to hunt turkey and deer in Lane, Ks on his daughter's farm. He enjoyed putting together puzzles, but the thing that brought him the greatest joy, was attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. Pop's could often be heard cheering them on from the sidelines. He never missed a KC Chiefs, Royals or KU Jayhawks basketball game when they were on TV or the opportunity to go to Texas Roadhouse for a steak.

Our Pop's had many friends, some who affectionately called him "Mr. P" or "Daddy Wayne." Those who had the pleasure to know him were blessed by his kindness and smile.

He will be greatly missed.

We love you Pop's.
