In remembrance of his brother, Bill Dunn writes:

My brother was my best friend. He was also my identical twin. He always pushed me to do my best because he was so competitive. He had to be the first one out of our mother's womb, the first one to get married, the first one to have a child, the first one to get a hole in one (ok, I never got a hole in one), and the first one to get divorced. He was the first one ever in our family to get a college degree.

He started his forty-year career in retail working part-time as a security guard at Kmart while going to college. I loved listening to his stories like the time he ran out of the store and tackled a thief in the Kmart parking lot.

He began selling insurance later in his life and just when it seemed all his hard work was going to pay off he was diagnosed with brain cancer. Even after surgery, chemo, and radiation, he continued to work as long as he could.

My brother always worked hard but always found time for golf. I remember even with his cancer he couldn't wait to wake up in the morning, make himself some breakfast and head out to the golf course even though his doctors told him he shouldn't be driving. I never really played golf but I saw how happy it made him being with friends that were just as addicted to the game as he was.

A good part of his life was spent in Missouri and Kansas where he met his second wife, Julie. Even though they got divorced they became close again and Julie was there by his side when he died. Julie had her own medical problems to deal but that did not stop her from helping him when he needed it. Even his ex girlfriend, who he used to live with stayed friends with him afterwards. He was the talk of the nursing home when they saw his ex girlfriend pushing his ex wife's wheelchair down the hall to see him. How lucky can a guy get.

My brother loved life and was always the life of a party. He told me that strangers at parties would ask him if he could come to their next party because he was so entertaining. How many people do you know would jump on top of a bar and start dancing the Hand Jive with the waitresses.

Yes, my brother was my best friend and now the most difficult thing for me is to have to say goodbye. As his identical twin he will always be with me. You see, whenever I talk, I will hear him, whenever I laugh, I will hear him laugh, whenever I look in the mirror, I will see him.

Goodbye Bro, God speed.

Your loving brother,
Bill
