Wallace Charles Raabe

October 20, 1923 — September 19, 2020

Wallace Charles Raabe, 96, of Olathe, KS passed away on September 19, 2020.

Wally was born October 20, 1923 in Queens, New York. He served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II, from April 7, 1943 through February 21, 1946.

After leaving the Army with an honorable discharge, he moved to Omaha, Nebraska where he began a career in the insurance business that continued until his retirement. In Omaha, he met and married his bride Dorothy Virginia Raabe on January 8, 1949. Dorothy remained his wife for 56 years until her death on April 21, 2005. Together, they had four children: Cathie, Michael, Patricia and Linda. All survive him and were able to be with him upon his passing.

Wally was the first resident of Cedar Lake Village retirement community in Olathe, moving from Wichita in 2001 to live there and be near Dorothy who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

Wally's parents George and Helen, and his sister Ginny, preceded him in death.

Wally is also survived by six grandchildren (Amy Tollefson, Shannon Wilson, James Stolte, Brett Simmons, Jeff Greaser and Matt Raabe) and five great grandchildren (Katelyn Tollefson, James Wilson, Harper and Silas Stolte, and Keegan Simmons).

Wally loved baseball and basketball (especially his beloved New York Yankees, New York Knicks and New York Giants) and he loved the outdoors. He and Dorothy often visited Estes Park, Colorado after Michael moved to Colorado in the 1970's. The family will be spreading their combined ashes in Colorado at a future date.
