Virginia Sue Snyder

October 27, 1926 — November 1, 2020

Virginia Sue Snyder, 94, of Shawnee, Kansas passed away peacefully on November 1, 2020 at the Hoeger House in Olathe, Kansas.

She was born on October 27, 1926 in Pomona, Missouri to Dr. D.D. and Bernice Gertrude (Taylor) Cox. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother and two half-sisters.

In 1945, Sue graduated from Paseo High School and began her working career at the Commerce Bank of Kansas City. On December 21, 1947 she married George Roy Snyder at the Linwood Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, Missouri and began her role of wife, mother and financial supporter while her husband attended the University of Missouri.

Sue and Roy moved to Savannah, Missouri in 1957 to raise their four daughters and create their life-long memories with family and friends. Sue retired from the State Farm Insurance Company after more than 37 years of service working along-side her husband. She was a member of Savannah Methodist Church, the Fraternal Order of the Eastern Star and the Andrew County 4H Club. She enjoyed a multitude of hobbies throughout her life, her favorites of which were sewing, gardening and painting ceramics. She spoked often of how she enjoyed sitting out on her deck with a cup of coffee on sunny mornings and later watching the stars appear as the evenings progressed.

Sue is survived by her loving Daughters and their husbands, Arn and Leslie Gayle Wildhagen of Greenbrier, Arkansas; Michael and Elizabeth Ann Williams of Shawnee, Kansas; and Thomas and Margaret Dee Ryan of Shawnee, Kansas. She was a proud Grandmother of four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Snyder in 1981 and her daughter Loretta Sue Snyder in 2010.

In the spirit of that modesty, no service will be held in her memory. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Interment will be held on Monday, November 9, 2020 at 11:00AM at the Savannah Cemetery, Savannah, Missouri. All are welcome to attend.
