VIRGIL A. HOLDREDGE

Virgil A. Holdredge, Olathe, passed away March 28th, 2006, at the residence. Masonic services will begin at 2:30pm Saturday.
Born April 10th, 1925, in Arkansas City, Kansas, Virgil graduated from Kansas University with a Civil Engineering degree and a Masters in Public Administration.
A licensed Professional Engineer, Virgil was Olathe's first City Engineer. He also served as City Engineer in Junction City and Lawrence before becoming County Engineer for Johnson County, Kansas. His efforts as County Engineer added greatly to the growth of Johnson County, and garnered local, state and Federal recognition.
Commissioned Ensign in The United States Navy in 1945, Virgil retired with the rank of Commander from the Naval Reserves in 1972. Along with his service to his country, Virgil was active in social service as well, as a proud member of and Treasurer for the Abdallah Shrine. He was a long-time KSHSAA swimming referee, and dearly loved his membership in the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A.
Beloved by his family, Virgil is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phara Holdredge; daughters Diane Mackey and Darcy (Patrick) Kershner; son Daryl (Rita) Holdredge; and seven grand and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Shriner's Children's Fund, c/o the Abdallah Shrine of Overland Park.
Loving Husband, Father, Grampie, and friend, Virgil will be missed by all those fortunate to have known him. We celebrate his life.
