Vincent John "Jim" Castaldo, 80, of Stilwell, Kansas, passed away on June 28, 2018 at the Kansas City VA Medical Center.
Jim was born June 24, 1938 to Louis and Marie Jean Castaldo in Mount Kisco, New York. Jim married his wife, Carol Mae, in April 1959. Together, they had three children. Jim served in the US Army and the US Navy for over 7 years.
Jim worked as a National Operations Director at Honeywell and PPG Biomedical for 35 years.
He was a life-long member of the American Legion and the Elks (including several terms as exalted ruler). After his retirement in Kansas, Jim enjoyed playing golf at Brookridge Golf Club and winning the occasional tournament.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his sister in law Carol Ann Patti and many aunts and uncles.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Carol, their three children Vincent, Jr. (Jeannie); Louis Joseph II (Laura); and Catherine; and seven grandchildren: Danielle, Andrew, Anna, Caroline, Caitlin, Haley and Margaret. Jim is also survived by his sister Marie (John), his sister Dona (Lynn), and his brother Anthony Patti.
A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, July 18 at 6:00pm, at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe, KS with visitation to follow from 6:30-8:00pm. A funeral mass will be held in Westchester, New York at a later date.
Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Mount Kisco, New York.
For the Fraternal order of Elk's, the 11:00th hour is a sacred hour. It is the hour when current Elk members pause to remember those who have passed by raising their glasses and toasting 'To our Absent Members'. As a past exalted ruler (P.E.R.) and a great Elk, 'The Chief' passed away Thursday June 28, 2018. The time was 11 pm in Mount Kisco, NY. Salute.
