Vicki Lynn Brubaker, 69, of Lenexa, KS, passed away on December 21, 2018. Her death from brain cancer took place at the Olathe Health Hospice House where she received wonderful comfort care and enabled her to get her wings in time to celebrate Christmas with Jesus.
Vicki was born on October 13, 1949 to Ann and E. Elmo Stark in Vincennes, Indiana.
Vicki spent her early years, through high school in Centralia, Illinois, where she made life-long friends who she continued to love.
On June 13, 1970, she married Larry (Bru) Brubaker, and they have made their homes in Overland Park, Olathe, Topeka, and now Lenexa, KS.
Vicki spent her early adult years working in hospitals and doctors offices. She spent the rest of her life fiercely loving her family and friends. She lived her life giving everyone the benefit of the doubt and never saying an unkind word about anyone (with the exception of the jerk from Georgetown she encountered at the Maui Classic where she was following her beloved Jayhawks).
Vicki is survived by her husband, Bru, her children Jennifer (Stacy) Smith of Olathe and Darren (Tiffany) Brubaker of Topeka, her grandchildren Sterling Smith, Troy Smith, Tyler Smith, Savannah Smith, and Beau Brubaker. She loved them all with all her being.
Raised as an only child, Vicki loved her cousins, her sister-in-law, Shari Thomas and family, and her closest friends. Vicki was active in church activities, she gave back to her community and was an easy mark for charities. She loved Elvis, all concerts, the Jayhawks and her favorite pastimes – shopping and Song Pop.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 28 from 6-8pm at Grace United Methodist Church, Olathe, followed by funeral services on Saturday, Dec. 29, 10am, also at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Olathe Health Hospice House.
