Vernon E. Lunn, 93, passed away, August 8, 2016 at Aberdeen Village, Olathe, Kansas. Born and raised n Kansas City, Missouri, one of seven children of Mervel and Alma Lunn. Vernon attended Westport High School in Kansas City. Following this he went to Pasadena Nazarene College in California. His studies were interrupted by World War II. He served as a First Sergeant in the Army Air Force Engineers, a branch of the Air Force responsible for building runways. He received a Battle Star in the Okinawa Invasion. Returning to Kansas City after the War, he worked 16 years as Merchandise Manager for the Sears Mail Order Plant in Kansas City, Missouri.
In 1965 he moved to Detroit, Michigan where he joined a new company Alexander Hamilton Life Insurance Company. Entering the company in the sales division, he soon joined the management team. He became Senior Vice-President of Alexander Hamilton Life and when he retired in 1988 he had served the company for 22 years. At his retirement dinner evening, an employee of the company said, Well, we won't be losing the head of the company, but we sure will be losing the heart!" He returned to Kansas City and has lived in Olathe for 28 years.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn, daughters Sharon Clair (Bill) and Susan Denham (Bob) and their son, Kevin. He has five grandchildren; Aubrey Clair Parker (Taylor), Ashley Clair; Crystal Clem Campbell, Carter Clem and Meg Lunn.
