Vernon Haselhorst

Vernon F. Haselhorst, 91, of Olathe, KS passed away Monday, May 3, 2010 at Olathe Medical Center.
Vernon was born August 14, 1918 in Northville, SD to Fred and Ida Haselhorst. He graduated in 1936 from Northville High School, and then began his career as an owner/operator of the Northville Grain Company for 39 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Mansfield, SD, and was also a member and two-year President of the South Dakota Elevator Association Board. Vernon served with the Volunteer Fire Dept. of Northville, SD, and was Fire Chief for fifteen years, and was a life-ling Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan. Vernon and his wife, Merelene, lived in Northville, SD for 43 years before moving to Aberdeen, SD and then to Olathe, KS in 2006. Merelene preceded him in death in 2009.
He is survived by his son Dale Haselhorst and wife Connie of Whitewood, SD, two daughters Marge Bott and husband John of Olathe, KS and Barb Sweet and husband John of Delano, MN, his brother, Harold Haselhorst and wife, Phyllis, of Aberdeen, SD, his sister-in-law Nancy Haselhorst of Madison, WI, sister-in-law Irene Hahler of Aberdeen, SD, and sister-in-law Joanne Larsen of Madison, SD, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
