Vereta Mae Eisele

December 12, 1946 — October 2, 2015

Vereta Mae Eisele of Olathe, Kansas passed away at the age of 68 on October 2, 2015 at the Hospice House in Olathe due to complications from cancer.

She was born on December 12, 1946 in Gardner, Kansas to Leo Clifton Duffield and Beatrice Mae Duffield. She grew up in Olathe as one of four siblings including Leo Clifton Duffield Jr., Suzanne G. Pietarilla and Douglas Wayne Duffield.

She grew up in Olathe and attended, at the time, the only high school in Olathe, Olathe High School and graduated in 1964 . She then attended Parson's Junior College in Parsons, Kansas with a course major in Anatomy and Physiology. She wanted to pursue a nursing degree until she discovered she didn't enjoy giving people shots.

Vereta was married to Charles Ronald Eisele on June 7, 1968 in a small ceremony at The First Christian Church in Olathe, KS. They were married for 47 years and enjoyed a lifetime of traveling to various places within the United States. Among her favorite visits in later years was visiting close friends in Arizona, Florida, Ohio and Texas. She also enjoyed several family vacations with her daughter and son-in-law and grandchildren to places such as Iowa, Oklahoma, Missouri and Niagra Falls.

Choosing a different career path, Vereta began working for Southwestern Bell in 1969 as a long distance operator and continued to work there for 30 years in various capacities such as data center operator, service coordinator and records and office clerk. She was also a President of her local Telephone Pioneers. During her employment she was able to fulfill one of her dreams of moving to Florida with her husband Chuck. Vereta lived in Lake Mary, Florida enjoying friends, the beach, and sunshine for seven years until she retired from AT&T. Upon retiring, she wished to return to Kansas in 1999 to spend time with family and new granddaughters Adrianna Maria Castillo and Elicia Francesca Castillo.

Although Vereta's nursing studies took another path, Vereta's caring spirit grew in many capacities. While living in Florida she attended Wekiva Assemblies of God where she actively participated in a Nursing Home visit outreach. Upon returning to Kansas she and husband Chuck began attending Church of the Harvest where she was involved with close and supportive friends in a Bible study Women of the Word and a Prayer Shawl ministry. She also generously donated to various missions organizations including Metro World Child and Teen Challenge.

Vereta is survived by her husband Charles Ronald Eisele of Olathe, Daughter Charla Castillo of Olathe, Son-in-law Edgar Castillo of Olathe, two grandaughters, Adrianna Maria Castillo and Elicia Francesca of Olathe, mother Beatrice M. Duffield of Overland Park, two brothers Leo Clifton Duffield Jr. and his wife Janie Duffield of Prairie Village,KS and Douglas Wayne Duffield and his wife Julie Duffield of Lee's Summit, MO and sister Suzanne Pietarilla and her husband Jim Pietarilla, of Olathe, KS and many aunts, uncles and cousins. "Lord you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. I will praise the Lord who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Psalm 16:5-8.
