Twila Melcene Mendenhall, 89, Olathe, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Royal Terrace Nursing Center in Olathe. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association.
Twila was born May 23, 1917 in Morrill, Kansas living in Olathe, Kansas the past 62 years. Twila and her husband Leo, who preceded her in death, owned and operated the Kansas City Star Newspaper routes in Olathe, Stanley, Stilwell, Morse and Kenneth, Kansas for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family at their lake home at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Twila also enjoyed her hobbies which included jewelry making, ceramics, doll collecting, hand decorated eggs and the QVC Channel.
She was also preceded in death by a son; Craig Leo Mendenhall.
She leaves her two daughters; Nancy (David) Nash of Shawnee, Kansas and Melcene (Jay) Werner of Olathe, Kansas, grandchildren; Bryan (Tobi) Burns, Leo Burns, and Marinda Nash, two great grandsons; Elton Burns and Thaddeus Nash.
