Tracy H. Smith

Tracy H. Smith, 61, of Olathe, passed away on July 30, 2019. He was born on May 18, 1958 to William and Gwyn (Gattis) Smith in Montgomery, AL.

Tracy grew up in Winchester, TN. He was the oldest of five children. He graduated from Franklin County High School in 1976 and went right into the Army. He met his wife at Ft Huachuca, AZ in 1978. They spent 4 years in Alaska and were married for 41 years. He started his telecommunications career at Northern Telecom and ended at Ericsson. He loved his motorcycles. Always had at least one. He had a tube stereo and he said it made the music warm. He loved his dogs. BBQ became a passion when he moved to Kansas. He loved his smoker. He loved to work in his yard and it showed.

Tracy is survived by his loving wife, Susan, sons Zack and Ben, brothers Todd, Tim and Tony, his cousin Sonny, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his little sister, Torrie.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 3, 2019, 9:30 am at Penwell Gabel's Olathe Chapel, followed by a memorial service at 10:30am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association in his name.
