Timothy Bishop

April 3, 1964 — February 15, 2014

Timothy Duane Bishop, 49, passed away February 15, 2014 at his home in Olathe, KS from a sudden heart attack.

Tim attended Allen County Community College, and played basketball while attending school. After graduating from Pittsburg State University in 1986, he began his teaching and coaching career in Yates Center, KS, eventually moving to Shawnee Mission West High School where he presently taught Physical Education and coached basketball and boys and girls golf. He earned his Master's Degree in Physical Education in 1999 from Pittsburg State University.

On December 20, 1997, he married Dawn Michele Slinkard, whom he had first met through friends at a Kansas City Chiefs football game.

He was a proud member of the PGA Association and immensely enjoyed playing golf with many of his friends, rain or shine, day or night. As a result of many years of practice and enjoyment, he achieved a handicap of 4!

Over the years, Tim proudly coached a number of student athletes, taking many of them to State Championships. His passion to coach and mentor others was the result of the influence of his father, Roy, who he respected and desired to emulate.

His family was his first priority, and he enjoyed spending time with his children every weekend while his wife, Dawn, worked as a nurse at Olathe Medical Center.

Tim enjoyed taking Blake fishing, coaching Luke and all his friends in basketball, and attending Claire's musical performances while always supporting and caring for his family.

Timothy is survived by his loving wife Dawn, his children Blake (age 15), Luke (age 11), and Claire (age 8), his father Roy Bishop, and his sister Jill Ost and husband Aaron. Also surviving are three nieces, Alyssa and Megan Decker, and Kate Ost, and nephew McCoy Slinkard, and mother and father-in-law Terry and Lois Slinkard, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Marty Slinkard and Daphne Decker, and a host of loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Kathryn Bishop.
