Thomas Nesbihal

October 18, 1986 — August 3, 2012

Thomas J. Nesbihal, age 25, passed away August 3, 2012 in Olathe, KS. Tom is survived by his mother, Jane Zaccardi, his father David (Frances) Nesbihal, his brothers Michael and David, and sister Nichole and step-sister Georgianna, grandmother, Jane Zaccardi, aunts Ellen Schwarz and Michelle Fabio, Mary Ann (George) Podolak, and uncle Kenny (Susan) Nesbihal. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Michael Zaccardi, Raymond and Georgiane Nesbihal.

Tom Nesbihal was born October 18, 1986 at 9:14am on a Saturday morning in Olathe, Kansas. It was his mother Jane's birthday that day and Tom was the best birthday present a mother could ever receive. Every year on their birthday his mother would give him a big kiss on the cheek and remind him he was the best present she ever got. Tom had two older brothers Mike and David and a little sister Nichole. Tom loved sports- growing up he played soccer, baseball, and basketball. As soon as he could walk he was following his brother David around and kicking a soccer ball. The family would vacation to New Jersey every summer to visit their aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. His father, David, coached him in soccer. He was a catcher and pitcher on his baseball team. He was a great team player. Growing up his father took him and his siblings on camping trips, fishing, and coasting in the canoe. He quickly made friends in the multiple circles of his life. He went to Prince of Peace Catholic School from Kindergarten through 6th grade. He built strong friendships throughout those years and made the transition to Frontier Junior High in 7th grade. In 9th grade he joined Olathe South High School's soccer team. This introduced him to a circle of friends to enter high school with. When he wasn't playing soccer you could find Tom jamming with "The Crew". He played bass guitar and had an undeniable love for music and the arts. Since seeing CKY the night before his 16th birthday in Lawrence, KS he's been hooked on live music. His friends have always been a huge part of his life and always taking advantage of making new lasting memories. He took up snowboarding in high school and went on trips to Colorado every winter season to shred with his friends and family. During high school Tom worked in the dietary department at Overland Park Medical Center. He would come home from work and proudly tell his mother that he was "saving lives" through the food he served. When he delivered patient trays he always had time to stop and listen to what the patients had to say.
He went on to Kansas State University in 2005 to study Business Administration. In the Spring of 2008 Tom studied abroad at Prague University of Economics through the CESP program. The dorm he stayed in was called Jarov in the neighborhood named Zizkov - he traveled all over Europe that semester and as a result has friends around the world. His mother met him in Prague at the end of the school year; and, from there they went to Barcelona, Paris and Lyons. A trip his mother had always wanted to take. In Barcelona, they stayed at a Youth Hostel; and, marveled at the street performer and the architecture particularly the Gaudi Temple. They often talked about the hours they spent atop of the Eiffel Tower watching the light show and trying to pick out landmarks in the distance. They went to the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa; and, rode bicycles out to Monet's Gardens in Giverny. The trip felt like the Amazing Race to his mother as Tom took them from place to place on foot, by tram, railroad, bus and plane. He came back from Europe an even more accomplished and confident young man. It expanded his horizons as his father would say and he was ready for whatever life threw at him. He had a whole new fuel for traveling and seeing the world. He can adapt to any situation that presented itself to him.
After returning from Prague in 2009 Tom decided to join his sister in working towards his United States Parachute Association A-License. He did a few static line jumps in the Spring of 2006 but didn't pick it back up until 2009. It was a race to see who could get their skydiving license first. A race his sister proudly won. He went to a Collegiate Parachute Competition in Jan 2010 at Skydive Spaceland in Texas. Tom and Nichole formed a 2-way teamed called "Crr-Splat" aka "Crashing Crew." The journey towards securing their license together was something special.
He was a huge K-State fan always sporting the purple. He always put others before himself. He loved music more than anyone else, and loved sharing it even more. He is the gateway to beautiful music and could pick up on his friends taste and always sharing songs he thought they would enjoy.
Tom lived with his brother David in college with his two friends Don Stuart and Stefan Arntsen. They shared many memories together while at K State. The college experience only brought them closer. David and Tom remained close after college and had planned on living together again in the near future. Their love of electronic music added another level to their bond. The end of the summer was going to be capped off by a two night Pretty Lights show at Red Rocks in Denver, Colorado, an experience David wanted to share with Tom. The shows they saw together, along with their little sister Nic Nac, were always a memorable event, the three of them raging together.
After graduating from K State in May 2010, he got a job at Cerner Corporation where he once again felt that he was making a difference making healthcare safer through the electronic medical records. He also was always searching for another way to enjoy music and he founded NEZproductions. See NEZproductions.com for the work he has created with his team. Team Nez is a talented team Tom inspired to create amazing videos for the artists and fans. He absolutely loved collaborating, networking, and creating. Tom was always searching for a weekend getaway, constantly bouncing all over living his life to the fullest.
Tom would always tell his sister of all the places they were going to go and what they were going to experience together. He was so inspiring and such an amazing older brother. Her brothers were the reason why she chose K-State. Tom always made sure his sister was safe. He was so giving and so thoughtful. Tom was notorious for sending the most touching messages. Tom always knew just what to say and how to make you feel good. He was full of kind, genuine words and he meant what he said. Nichole and Tom were in the middle of planning a trip to Moab, Utah coming up in September. He said he wanted to sit on a cliff and expand his consciousness. Tom showed Nichole into the world of music and all the magical things it can do for you. The people you meet and the passion you see up on the stage is nothing short but inspiring. His sister was so proud of the man he had become and was so hopeful for the future that was ahead of them.
Some kind words from Tom to his sister a week before his untimely passing, "You make life worth living, I love my little sister, I have so much planned for us. We are so young. Don't lose touch." –Tom Nesbihal
One of Tom's greatest attributes was his sharing and selfless nature. He always made sure everyone close to him was taken care of. He wanted to share experiences of all kinds with anyone and everyone. Tom never met a stranger, each person was a friend he just hadn't met yet. Tom will live on through the music he loved and the friends he made. He touched so many lives in a positive way. He will truly be missed but never forgotten. As Tom would say, FREE AND EASY, BABY!
