Thomas Brooks Hudson, 77, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on Friday January 26, 2024. He was born in Brownwood, Texas to Leldon and Margaret (Farley) Hudson. Thomas was the second of four children.
Thomas grew up in Groom, Texas and graduated with a degree in Agriculture Economics from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas where he was a member of the Saddle Tramps. He was certified as a baking technologist from the American Institute of Baking Manhattan, Kansas. His various careers included working as a commodity trader for the Kansas City Board of Trade, food manufacturing for several companies, sold residential real estate and was a residential property manager.
He was proud of being a Texan and was quick to let you know that fact. He loved God, his family and barbeque. He enjoyed grilling and working on his antique cars. He loved to travel and sample food and spirits from other parts of the world. He served in numerous lay positions at Central Methodist Church in Kansas City, Missouri as well as volunteering as a driver for the school backpack program at Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas. He was a member of Rotary in Conway, Arkansas.
Thomas and Joyce first met at Central United Methodist Church and would have been married 31 years on February 13,2024
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Hudson, daughter Brooke Hudson of Prairie Village, stepson Jonathan Knapp and wife Sara of Prairie Village, Stepdaughter Sarah Knapp of England. Brothers James L. Hudson, Carl S. Hudson and sister Jane Burroughs Hudson predecease him. Nephews Stephen Hudson, and wife Toni of Temple, Texas; Josiah Burrows, Arlington Nieces: Hillary Stull and husband Brad of San Antonio, Anna Rios and Daniel of Williamsburg, Texas. Great nephews Charles Hudson, Spencer Hull Great nieces Sarah Stull Ella Rios.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Church of the Resurrection – Wesley Chapel, 13720 Roe Ave, Leawood, KS 66224.
