Thomas M. Fleming, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on June 29, 2024 at home with his family. He was born in Salina, KS to T.J. and Mary (Berry) Fleming and grew up in Kansas City, MO. Tom graduated from Rockhurst High School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of Notre Dame. He served honorably in the US Navy.
Tom was known for his love of golf, cruising, spending time at the beach in Sanibel, enjoying a good book and a good beer. He was a dreamer who lived a long, full, and admittedly unique life, always finding humor and silver linings even in the direst of situations. He brought joy, laughter, and a touch of the unexpected to all who knew him. The family is grateful for the love he shared and the memories he created. His friends and family know that life will be much more boring without him.
Tom is survived by his wife, Gaye Fleming; his children, Lisa (Shawn) Collins of Independence, MO, Ted (Phillip Denton) Fleming of Vancouver, WA, Logan (Nicolette Stenger) Fleming of Olathe, KS, and Ian (Emily) Fleming of Lenexa, KS; grandchildren, Jacob Collins, Kellan Fleming, McKinley Fleming, and Jules Stenger Fleming; and his brother, Joseph Fleming of Sarasota, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert Fleming.
Tom, thank you for all the joy and laughter. You made life a lot of fun.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 2:00-4:00pm on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Penwell-Gabel's Olathe Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Tom’s name to FISH SanCap, 2430 Periwinkle Way Sanibel, FL 33957, an organization promoting long-term hurricane recovery efforts for the residents of Sanibel and Captiva islands.
