Theophanes "Ted" Clarensau

Theophanes "Ted" Clarensau, 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 10, 2017 at his home in Midlothian, Texas. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Constantine "C.M." and Flora Clarensau, Ted lived most of his life in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, before retiring to Lake of the Ozarks near Eldon, Missouri.

Ted was a craftsman. He demonstrated his commitment to excellence and his gifts of leadership first as a cabinet-maker and then as long-time general manager of Century Wood Products in Olathe, Kansas, and Quality Wood Products in Kansas City, Missouri, where he was also Vice-President. Ted was deeply dedicated to Christ and to his local church. For more than forty-five years, he served in many capacities at First Assembly of God Church in Overland Park, Kansas, including Sunday school teacher, Royal Rangers Commander, and Church Secretary-Treasurer—an assignment he fulfilled for nearly forty years. After moving to his lake home in Rocky Mount, Missouri, Ted again gave his best to his local church, Camp Chapel Assembly of God, as a deacon and church treasurer for nearly a decade. Through his workplace, his church, and many years coaching the sports teams of his children, he mentored and coached hundreds of young people who today reflect his influence.

Ted deeply loved his wife, Marian Frances "Fran" Clarensau, every moment of their nearly 58 years as husband and wife. Their relationship has always served as a model for all who spent time with them, whether at church, in their neighborhood, or at the lake home that they gladly opened to hundreds of guests. Ted is also survived by the children in whom he invested so much—Mike Clarensau and his wife Kerry, and Mickey Jensen and her husband Gary, all currently residing in Midlothian. And no description of Ted would be accurate without specific mention of the grandchildren and great grandchildren that each had their own well-demonstrated place in his heart. Tyler and Katie Clarensau live in Vancouver, Washington, with their daughters Molly and Lennon. Blake and Danielle Clarensau reside in Dallas, Texas, with their daughter Winnie. Chandler Jensen and Chelsea Jensen both live in Parker, Colorado. Chloe and Christopher Jensen live with their mom and dad in Midlothian, Texas. Ted is also survived by his sisters Pauline Reel and her husband Don of Belton, Missouri, and Marina Austerman and her husband Gary who reside in Napoleon, Missouri. Ted was loved by all who knew him, including all those of his extended family, and hundreds of friends.

The family will gladly receive friends on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:30 PM at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 Blackbob Rd, Olathe, KS and Ted's life will be celebrated at that same location with funeral services on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 10:00 AM.

Ted's family has recently established an endowed scholarship at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) in honor both of Ted and his father. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a student preparing for ministry.
