Thelma Louise Sanders

January 12, 1940 — April 8, 2020

The Sanders family regrets to announce the passing of our dear mother Thelma Louise Sanders, 80, of Olathe, KS.

Our mother was born January 12,1940 to Norwood and Ella Mae Pryor in Tulsa, OK. She met U.S. Army soldier James Sanders and the two married on November 13,1957. The couple followed the family migration from Los Angeles to the midwest and settled in Davenport, IA, where they grew a family of five children.

Our mother is survived by her children Robin Sanders (Debbie) of Davenport, IA, Michael Sanders (Keri) of Dallas, GA, Nina Tiller (Stuart) of Olathe, KS, Monica Sanders of Lansing, MI and Monique Sanders of Jackson, MI; sisters Earline (John) Evans of Chicago, IL, Gwendolyn (Elliott) Hardy of Chicago, IL; grandchildren Elisa, Levi, Jacinda, Aiden, Keira, Bailey, and many special nieces and nephews.

Our mom was an amazing and hard working woman. She was also a very devoted Wife and Mother. She enjoyed holidays and special gatherings of family, friends, and even strangers that needed a good home cooked meal. We will always remember the laughter and good natured teasing that filled the house - especially when she was with her sisters. These and numerous other memories with her will forever live in our hearts.

Our mother will be laid to rest April 15, 2020, at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Jackson, MI. Due to the circumstances of Covid-19, a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Our family takes some comfort in knowing that our mother will once again be in the loving company of her parents, her sister Ruth, and her husband and our father James.
