November 3, 1952 — March 18, 2022

Terry Richard "TR" Allen, 69, of Olathe, passed away on March 18, 2022, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on November 3, 1952, to Carl and Helen (Brooks) Allen in Pittsburg, KS.

As a teenager, he was a drummer in his uncle's band. He also played football for Girard High School, where he was the president of the Letterman's Club. After high school, he played for the Kansas State Wildcats for one season, sealing his lifelong love of football. He then served his country with the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam. Upon returning, he earned his Associate's Degree at Pittsburg State University.

TR worked as a Police Officer in several Kansas municipalities for seven years before joining the Overland Park Police Department. He served in Overland Park for 35 years as a police officer, Tac team member, detective, firearms instructor, and armorer until his retirement in 2016.

TR and his wife, Stephanie Sue (Nelson) Allen, made their home in Olathe, Kansas, where he was a member of Olathe Bible Church, serving as a deacon and a youth leader for many years. During his years at Olathe Bible Church he formed many close and enduring friendships.

TR loved animals of all kinds and working with kids, especially spending time with his grandchildren. Family was extremely important to him. He also loved the outdoors and was a true cowboy at heart. He often enjoyed hunting trips with friends, family, and coworkers.

TR is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie, and their daughter, Jessi Lynne (Allen) Davis aka "P-Nut", her husband Joe Davis, and their children, Grace, Gage, Maggie and Marek; daughter Jodee Allen Lewis and husband Clif, her mother, Lisa Beck, and her children, Dakota Lewis, Karaanne Wilson Knute and husband Jacob, Kayleigh Wilson, Brayden Lewis, and Tyler Lewis; grandchildren Rafe and Magan Allen; and great grandchildren Gavin (Karaanne) and Wrenleigh (Brayden). He is also survived by his sister Carolyn Littrell, brother Bob Allen and wife Sandy, Sister Debbie Kramer and husband John, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Randall Nelson and wife Carolyn, Brad Nelson and wife Paula and their daughter Nicole Nelson Coffey and husband Byron.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Allen, his mother, Helen Brooks Allen and stepfather Charles Goff; his son, Jason Allen, and Jason's infant daughter, Raven; brother-in-law Charles Littrell, father-in-law Marvin Nelson and mother-in-law Faith Nelson.

The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, and caregivers in the Olathe Health System and at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, who attended him throughout his three-year battle with pancreatic cancer. We would also like to thank the many friends, neighbors, extended family and fellow police officers for providing physical, spiritual and emotional support.
