Teresa Klaus

Teresa (Thompson) Klaus, known to many as Mama Hook, went to be with God on January 19, 2016. Teresa was born April 7, 1956 in Pittsburg, Kansas, the daughter of Sam and Erma Thompson. Teresa lived most of her life in Olathe. She graduated from Olathe High School. Teresa spent her career taking care of others. She started as a candy striper at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home and eventually became the Personnel Director. She then obtained her degree in Long Term Care Administration from Kansas City Kansas Community College. For the length of her career, she served as the Administrator at Faith Village in Olathe, Kansas, followed by being the Administrator at a nursing home in Richmond, Kansas and finished her career at The Homestead of Olathe, Kansas.
Teresa is survived by her husband, Jim Klaus, son Shane (Laurie) Hook, daughter Shannon (Jason) Miller, daughter Jennifer (Gabe) Anderson, step-daughter Mandie (Nick) DeVaul, her father Sam Thompson, sister Deana (Byron) Funk, brothers Tom, Marshall (Michelle), Brian and Brad (Violet), sister-in-law Robin Hertel, grandchildren Sam, Sophia, and Khloei Anderson, Payton Haen and Gavin Miller, Mark, Michael and Mason Paegel, nieces and nephews Jared Hale, Bryce and Ely Webster, Gracie, Gabi, Will and Claire Funk, and Megan Hertel.
She was a lover of all sports, especially her KU Jayhawks, KC Chiefs and KC Royals. We can't forget her love of Pepsi, her kindle and Days of Our Lives. Her kids were her heart and greatest accomplishment, as well as her grandkids, nieces and nephews. She would be on the beach at any given time which is hard to do when you have lived in Kansas all of your life! She did her best to get there as often as possible.
In lieu of flowers, it was Teresa's wish that donations be made to the "Shannonigans Lung Fund" with checks made payable to "Shannon Miller" mail to 1030 Ruscello Drive, Maryville, TN 37801 OR PayPal.com/us/webapps/mpp/send-money-online using LTLHOOK@yahoo.com and the "Friends & Family" option.
