Susan Bailey Anthony Wilson, 95, Lenexa, peacefully passed away Jan. 11, 2017. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 Blackbob Road, Olathe, Kan. 66062. A visitation will precede the service at 10 a.m.
Sue was born July 15, 1921, in Slocomb, Ala., the youngest of six siblings born to Lovick P. and Kathleen Anthony. She grew up in Butler, Ga., and lived in numerous other cities, including Overland Park from 1964-69. She returned to the area in 2004, living in Lenexa and Olathe.
She met the love of her life, David Overton Wilson, in Birmingham, Ala., and the two were married in 1945. Together they raised a family of three boys.
Sue was predeceased by her husband, David, son Raymond A. Wilson, her parents, two sisters and three brothers. She is survived by two sons and their wives, David O. Wilson, Jr. (Rea), Olathe, and Gary P. Wilson (Mary Anne), Lenexa, four grandchildren, S. Corey Hart, St. Peters, Mo., Bailey E. Amtower, Fairway, David O. Wilson III, Overland Park, Mallory Keller, Kansas City, Mo., and five great-grandchildren whom she adored. She was lovingly known by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all their friends as "Grandma Sue."
The family gives thanks to her faithful caregivers at Covenant Place of Lenexa, Crossroads Hospice of Kansas and care ministers from the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, Leawood. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Lung Association, 8400 W. 110th St., Ste. 130, Overland Park, 66210 or to the Great Plains SPCA, 5428 Antioch Dr., Merriam, KS 66202.
