Susan was born in Milwaukee, WI., and lived her first 4 years in Oshkosh, WI., and the next 12 years in Ripon, WI. At 16, she moved with her family to Wichita and resided there for over 40 yrs. She met her sweetheart, Tom, at Wichita West. They married in 1968 and shared 53 wonderful married years.
Susan graduated from St. Francis School of X-Ray Technology & worked part-time in the field while raising 3 children for almost 20 years. She then earned a Bachelor's in Social Work from Wichita State University in '91 and a Master's in Clinical Social Work from KU in '95. She worked as a hospice social worker for 10 years, followed by 7 1/2 years as a substitute in the Wichita Public Schools, primarily at Heights HS. In 2009, Susan and Tom retired to Overland Park, KS.
Susan was proceeded in death by her parents: George & Dorothy Vix. Survivors: Beloved husband: Tom; Children: Paul (Caroline) Vrana, Lenexa; Rebecca (Charles) Vrana-Naquin, Evanston, Ill; Valerie (Charles) Golden, Olathe; 6 grandchildren, and brother Richard(Sandi) Vix of Ypsilanti, MI.
A private graveside service was held in Overland Park on July 5.
