SUSAN SMITH MACKEY
On September 29th 2016 I lost the love of my life and wife of 51 years. Susan was born to Bill and Nickie Smith on May 2, 1942. She was educated at the Sunset Hill School and Northwestern University. She was a lifelong KKG. To my great joy she consented to marry me, Edmonds P. Mackey on June 26th, 1965, Susan loved swimming at the KCCC, fishing a Rockbridge, the K.C. Royals and the Symphony. She loved Longboat Key in the spring and world travel. Visitation was her church home. She loved her CRHP sisters, Arts and Environment and her knitting group. She was a devoted member of the Knickerbocker Investment Club. Susan loved her friends unconditionally and was generous to a fault. But above all, she loved her family. We were blessed with a son, Peter Mackey and wife Dawn, Daughter Laura Urquidez, her husband, Chris and beautiful granddaughters, Merrill Margaret Weber, Anna Helen Weber, Mae and Daphne Urquidez. She also leaves her brother Bill Smith and sister Laurie, her cherished nephew Brian and niece, Jenifer. We are all devastated by the loss of our MiMi. She was my best friend. I am overwhelmed by my loss.
