In Loving Memory of Susan Jeanne Glass
Born on April 4th, 1964, in Peoria, Illinois, Susan Jeanne Glass, a cherished wife, mother, daughter, and friend, passed away March 9th, 2025, in Lenexa, Kansas, leaving behind a legacy as vibrant as her spirit. Susan lived a life characterized by her radiant personality, boundless enthusiasm, and an innate ability to connect with those around her. She was a woman who, as many would attest, did not know a stranger.
Susan graduated from The University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Business, Business Administration. While attending KU, Susan was a proud member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority, where she made lifelong friendships and cherished memories that remained close to her heart.
A dedicated professional, Susan served as the Treasury Accounting Manager with the Johnson County Government, drawing upon her extensive experience honed during her remarkable 23-year tenure at Hallmark. Her professional life was not only a testament to her hard work and determination but also to her passion for excellence in finance and management. Susan's contributions were recognized widely, notably through her 13-year service on the Association for Financial Professionals Board, where she took great pride in her role, even stepping up as Chairperson.
Yet, above all her achievements, Susan's heart swelled with pride for her family. Celebrating three decades of marriage, she and her devoted husband, Elliott, built a life filled with love, laughter, and immeasurable joy. Together, they welcomed their two wonderful children, James and Sarah, who were the cornerstones of her existence. Her love for them was profound, reflective of the nurturing spirit that defined her essence.
Susan’s life was rich with interests that brought her happiness — from sun-soaked days spent at the lake to trips to Florida, Jamaica, Spain, Italy, France, Disney Cruises, and most recently to the Bahamas. She embraced every moment with a zeal for life, passionately engaging in all she did, spreading warmth and kindness wherever she ventured.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Elliott; her beloved children, James (Taylor) and Sarah; her devoted mother, Ruthe; and her brothers, Scott Utt (Sheri) and James Utt (Dianna). While we mourn the loss of Susan, we also honor the memories of her father, Lee Utt, who predeceased her, knowing they are now reunited.
A memorial service celebrating her extraordinary life will be held on March 28, 2025, at The Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas, in the Wesley Chapel at 2:00 PM (13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, KS 66224). Friends and family are invited to gather and share in the remembrance of a woman whose light touched all who crossed her path.
Susan, with her indelible spirit and love, will forever resonate in the hearts of those she leaves behind, serving as an enduring testament to the power of kindness, love, and the connections we forge in our journeys.
