Susan Jane Caraher, 79, of Overland Park, passed away suddenly on July 17th, 2018 at Olathe Medical Center. She was surrounded by her children when she died. She will be sorely missed by all of her family and friends around the world.
She was born on February 26, 1939 to Charles and Edith (Anderson) Ffolliott in Roane County, Tennessee and grew up in St. Charles and Batavia in the Fox Valley outside of Chicago. She married Gerald James Caraher in White Plains, New York on January 30, 1965.
Susan and Jerry had four children - Anne, Peter, Patrick and Timothy. As a family, they lived in Yonkers, New York; Okinawa, Japan; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Briarcliff Manor, New York; and Glendale, California before settling in Overland Park, Kansas.
She had many friends from her time in California and was a big supporter of St. Francis High School in La Cañada, California. She worked in Overland Park at a local Credit Union and Johnson County Community College. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends in Overland Park and always looked forward to visits with her children and grandchildren. She also loved adventures with her dear friend of 36 years, Sue Graves.
Susan is survived by her loving husband, Jerry; her four children and their spouses - Anne and Stephen O'Leary (Vancouver, Canada); Peter and Lee Caraher (San Mateo, California), Patrick Caraher and Jessica Ganss (Monaca, Pennsylvania ) and Tim Caraher and Jennifer Norman (San Francisco, California) and her seven grandchildren - Eoin, Lizzy, Michael, Liam, Ciara, Emily and Adah. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who traveled the world to spend time with her kids and grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charles and Edith Ffolliott; and her brother, Peter Ffolliott. Susan is survived by Peter Ffolliott's widow, Linda Ffolliott.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the National Center for Equine Facilitated Therapy (www.NCEFT.org).
