Sunday Hall Cavallaro

March 12, 1957 — January 26, 2021

Sunday Hall Cavallaro, 63, of Lenexa, KS, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on January 26, 2021 after a courageous battle against cancer. Sunday was born to parents Walter and Georgia Hall on 03/12/1957 in Roanoke Rapids, NC.

She was an avid fitness enthusiast and enjoyed weight lifting, running, racewalking and many other similar activities. She was a certified Zumba instructor, and had a loyal and enthusiastic group of students that consistently sought her classes. In calendar year 2015, just prior to her diagnosis, she ran 10 half marathons in different states. She devoted herself to racewalking where she so inspired her club members that she was given consecutive service awards the last three years.

Beyond her love for fitness, her real passion was caring for her children and grandchildren. She was fortunate to have all of her children and grandchildren live within 10 miles, and this allowed Mimi to host a family dinner every Sunday. This family time was always the highlight of her week.

She was an active member of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection (COR) in Leawood, Kansas. She mentioned frequently how grateful she was for the women's ministry there (GLOW GIRLS) that encouraged and supported her during this journey.

Sunday met her husband Rich Cavallaro in the spring of 1977, when they were introduced by Sunday's sister, Leiza. They were married on 12/09/1978 in Quantico, VA. Together they raised three daughters and were blessed with nine grandchildren.

Sunday is survived by her husband Rich, daughters Jennifer Greene (Luke), Kristen Ferrell (Jonathan) and Mara Culbertson (Jacob), and nine grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Georgia Hall, of Freeman, VA and siblings Leiza Hall (Paul Bailey) of Zebulon, NC, Miles (Rowena) of Rocky Point, NC, Sibyl Thornell (Eddie) of Gasburg, VA, Ross (Karen) of Snow Camp, NC, John (Terrie) of Wake Forest, NC and Ryan (Tonya) of Kissimmee, FL.

Sunday was preceded in death by her father, Walter M Hall.

A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Resurrection on Saturday, February 6 at 2:00 pm, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, in-person attendance will be limited to family. However, friends are welcome to view the service online, which will be live streamed and may be accessed at http://cor.org/memorialsonline.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Women's Ministry at COR (Glow Girls) or to the KU Cancer Center.
