Stuart Lee Shinkle

December 2, 1949 — November 23, 2022

Stuart Lee Shinkle, 72, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2022, with family present. Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022, at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe, Kansas. There will be no graveside services.

Stu was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on December 2, 1949, and lived most of his early life in Fairway, Kansas. Stu was co-owner of Quick Delivery Service until he sold his ownership interest and went to work as an analyst for the Internal Revenue Service where he formed many close friendships. On May 25, 1985, Stu was married to his soul mate, Jeanne Lee Suddreth. They resided in Olathe, Kansas, and lived a full life together that involved fun and travel (Disney World and cruises) with family and friends. They were inseparable until the love of Stu's life passed away from cancer on October 2, 2013.

Stu was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne; his parents, Harry and Lucille Shinkle; and his brother-in law, Jim Suddreth. Stu leaves behind his brother-in laws, Jay Suddreth and his wife Ellen of Leawood, Kansas; and Jeffrey Suddreth and his wife Teresa of Olathe, Kansas. He also leaves behind three nieces, Lisa Roos and her husband Joe of Parkville, Missouri; Jessica Hotaling and her husband Scott of Leawood, Kansas; and Jamie Diefendorf and her husband Nate of Fairway, Kansas; two nephews, Andrew Suddreth and his wife Jennifer of Olathe, Kansas; and Brett Suddreth and his wife Arianna of Overland Park, Kansas; six grandnieces, Kaitlyn Roos, Amelia and Abigail Diefendorf, Caroline and Olivia Suddreth, and Kate Suddreth; and five grandnephews, Thomas and Nicholas Roos, Spencer Bunch-Hotaling, and Henry and Charlie Suddreth. The grandnieces and grandnephews were essentially grandchildren to Stu, and he spent a great deal of time with family.

The family would like to thank the staff at Tiffany Springs Rehab and Healthcare Center for their care and compassion during Stu's last several months.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Down Syndrome Innovations in Mission, Kansas.
