Stephen Robert Reed

Stephen Robert Reed, 76, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. He was born on March 9, 1948 in Chanute, Kansas to Robert and Jean (Gilmore) Reed. 

Steve met his wife Jennifer while attending college at Pittsburgh State University. Shortly after Steve and Jennifer met, they were married on June 27th 1970. They started their family with the birth of Dustin, not much longer they were further blessed with the births of their daughters Stephanie and Mandy. Steve deeply loved and supported his children. Steve also loved his church family as well and spent many hours each week serving his community. His other loves included the Kansas City Chiefs, tending to his yard and his dogs that he considered his children as well.

Stephen is survived by his mother, Jean Reed; wife, Jennifer Reed; sister Linda (Gerald) Reed; children, Dustin (Susan) Reed, Stephanie (Jay) Pickard and Amanda (Bryan) Hodkins; grandchildren, Travis Reed, Whitney Reed, Justice Whitlock, Jacob Whitlock, Zein Pickard, Zoe Pickard, Madison Pipkin, Evan Pipkin, Jaylee Hodkins, Kaydance Zibung, Brooklynn Zibung, and great grandchild, Archer Perez, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Reed.

The family will receive guests for a visitation from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Hope Chapel, 12480 S Black Bob Rd, Olathe, KS 66062, the funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. A private burial will take place at a later date.
