Stephen Gerard Banholzer passed away on May 11th, 2013.
Steve was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. People who met him often felt an immediate connection with him, he just had a way of making everyone around him feel at ease. Steve had the ability to make people laugh with his wonderful sense of humor. From his family to his co-workers, Steve truly touched the lives of everyone he met in personal and undeniable ways.
It's impossible to think of Steve without remembering his stunning flower gardens, his remote control helicopters and his beloved 1970 1/2 Z28 Camaro. Affectionately known as "The Yeti", Steve was larger than life. The enormity of his spirit was only outmatched by the size of his heart. He was an incredible man and will be missed in uncountable ways by so many people.
Steve was born in St. Louis, MO on April 7th, 1955 to Joseph and Hazel Banholzer. Steve was proud to work for B.E. Aerospace for nearly forty years. He not only considered his co-workers friends, but family.
Steve is survived by his best friend, golf buddy, soul mate and the love of his life--his wife Mary; his beloved children: his son Jacob and wife Mary, his daughter Claire; brother John and his sisters Susan and Christine and their families in Pleasanton, CA; Ludington, MI; and Kansas City, MO.
Steve's family is grateful for the care and compassion shown by the staff of The University of Kansas Cancer Center South, St. Joseph Medical Center and Kansas City Hospice House. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Steve's name to the Kansas City Hospice House at 12000 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO 64145.
