Shirley Lorene Rogers, 86, of Overland Park, passed away on September 8, 2020 at her home.
She was born on March 25, 1934 in St. Francis Hospital in Maryville, MO.
She graduated from North Kansas City High School, and received her Registered Nurse diploma from Research Hospital, Kansas City, MO. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri in Kansas City, MO.
Shirley was employed as a surgical nurse at Research Hospital, and she also taught Medical-Surgery classes while working there.
She was also in the Surgical Nurse Rotation at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO, and a school nurse for the Leavenworth, KS School District.
Shirley was a member of the American Nurses Association, the Philomathean Literary Club, and a member of the Blue Valley Baptist Church.
Shirley is survived by her loving daughter, Kimberly Rogers Knoll, and her son-in-law, John Knoll of Tecumseh, KS, and lifelong friends Jim and Jo Ellen Holloway.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Charles Rogers, and her parents.
A private service will be held with burial in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Overland Park, KS.
Memorials are suggested to the Blue Valley Baptist Church or to the City Union Mission.
