Shirley Nelson

SHIRLEY ANN NELSON, age 67, passed away March 9, 2006 in her home surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Blackbob Rd., Olathe. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 13 at 10:00 a.m. at the Olathe Bible Church, 13700 W. 151st, Olathe, KS. Interment, Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens, Shawnee, KS.
Shirley was born August 19, 1938 in Hamburg, Iowa to W.A. (Bill) and Gladys Brinegar. She graduated from Tarkio High School and then attended business college in Iowa. Shirley married Raymond Nelson on December 22, 1957 in Tarkio, MO.
She enjoyed a twenty-seven year career as a paraprofessional with Rhein Benninghoven Elementary School.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Nelson of Olathe, children Blake (Beth) Nelson of Overbrook, KS and Nancy Nelson of Wichita, KS, grandchildren; Nathan Thomas Cain, Justin Ray Cain, Jacob Daniel Nelson, Travis Dalton Nelson, and Stephanie RaeAnne Nelson. Shirley is also survived by her sister Betty (Gene)Wester of Maryville, MO, and her brother Dr. Jerry L. (Meg) Brinegar of Athens, GA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Bill Brinegar, Jr.
Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. We will miss her deeply.
