Shirley Dean Lumsden, 88, of Overland Park, KS, loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015 surrounded by her family.
Shirley was born December 15, 1926 in Kansas City, MO to Mary Emma and Shirley Mosher Ford. She grew up in Independence, MO and graduated from William Chrisman High School. Shirley married Douglas Lumsden in 1960 and they were very active in the Kansas City Saint Andrew's Society.
Her passion in life was her family and friends, and she devoted herself fully and enthusiastically to helping others. She leaves a cherished legacy that includes many wonderful oil paintings, and the memory of her laughter.
She leaves behind her husband, three daughters, Kerry Lancaster (husband Larry) of Gardner, KS, Janice O'Connor (husband Chuck) of Olathe, KS, and Tina Scheppers (husband Steve) of Olathe, KS, daughter-in-law Janice Turner of Topeka, KS, seven grandchildren: Mindy Kitterman (husband David), Shaun Morris, Joseph Grooms, James Grooms, Cheri Thorne (husband Chet), Tim O'Connor, Henry Hill, Ian Mercer and eleven great-grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Genevieve Mingus and Marian Laudie, and a son Richard Hill.
