Sheila Rose Kuestersteffen, 86, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024. She was born on October 4, 1937 in Emmetsburg, Iowa to Francis and Rosella (Flaherty) Brady.
Sheila spent her younger years in Emmetsburg before moving to Kansas City in 1951. She graduated from Bishop Lillis High School then worked as a secretary following graduation.
On September 5, 1959, she married Charles Kuestersteffen, together they moved to Olathe, and later Wellsville, where they raised their five children. She returned to work in the admissions office at Baker University for several years when the kids were older.
Sheila and Charles moved back to Olathe during their retirement years. Sheila preferred to spend her days tending to her gardens and enjoying the flowers.
She took great pride in her family, always showing an interest in their hobbies and academics, taking time to ask questions and sharing newspaper clippings.
Sheila is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Charles Kuestersteffen, children, Gary Kuestersteffen, Lynn (Jerry) Traylor, Mary (Greg) Campbell, Bob (Sue) Kuestersteffen, and Andy (Amy) Kuestersteffen, her brother, Emmett (Shirley) Brady, fourteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her siblings, Patricia Kuchinski, Robert Brady, Marilyn Thompson, Margaret Orwick, and Frank Brady.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 9th, from 1:00-4:00pm, at the Overland Park Arboretum, 8909 W 179th St., Overland Park, KS.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Olathe Hospice House in Sheila's memory.
