Scott Alan Hostetler

November 9, 1956 — October 17, 2021

Scott Alan Hostetler, 64, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on October 17, 2021. He was born 11/9/1956 in Crosbyton TX
He was a much beloved father, son, brother and grandfather always ready with a joke or funny story to tell.

Scott was preceded in death by his father Stanley Gene Hostetler and brother David Neal Hostetler.
He is survived by his mother Bonnie Hostetler, children Sally Hostetler Moore(Shannon) Alan Hostetler (Chris) and Laura Reese(Will) and brothers Kelly Hostetler, Steve Hostetler and Doug Hostetler along with 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was an avid outdoor sportsman who loved fishing, hunting, trapping and camping. He also loved to shoot pool. Scott was an avid reader and loved to watch old westerns movies.

He spent most of his life in Kansas, but did live in Alaska for 9 years, where he was able to enjoy the great outdoors and participate in the activities that he loved so much. He returned to Kansas to be near to his ever growing gaggle of wonderful grandchildren and to be close to his parents and brothers.

He worked for many years in his parents company, Hostetler and Associates Court Reporting, then was a partner with his brothers in Hostetler Lawn & Landscaping. Later he went into furniture and mattress sales.

Scott loved to tell jokes and stories and play practical jokes on family and friends. He enjoyed being with friends and told great stories of his time with them. He was quick to laugh and smile and like his father before him, was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Scott was very loved by his family and will be missed so very much. We are grateful to have known and had him in all of our lives for the time we did.

GONE FISHING- A Poem by David Ritter

If someone should ask for me,
tell 'em heaven is where I'll be.
I've finished all my life's chores,
and now I fish on heaven's shores.

The view is grand and the fishing's great,
but I yearn for you as I wait.
I'll save a spot on the river's bend,
for all those, I call family and friend.

But for now, head to the Manistee
and make a cast in memory,
to all the good times that you had,
with me- your friend, your grandpa…your dad.

And if the fish no longer bite
or seem no longer worth the fight,
'cause it's me that you are missin',
don't worry – be happy – I've gone fishin'.
