Sally J. Dwyer, 80, of Spring Hill, Kansas, died Friday, October 3, 2014 at her home, Seven Oaks Ranch, surrounded by her family.
Sally was born November 19, 1933 to James and Betty Larkin in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Southwest High School in Kansas City, MO in 1951 and from Gulf Park College in Gulf Port, MS in 1954 with an Associate Degree in Fine Arts. Sally was united in marriage to Fred J. Dwyer on June 23, 1956.
Sally owned and operated Seven Oaks Ranch for over 30 years. She will be forever remembered for her love and passion for animals, especially horses and cats. Sally spent her life riding and showing horses. She even rode her horse in President Harry Truman's Inaugural Parade in 1949.
Her combination of a talent for art and her love of animals resulted in a lifetime career as a professional pet and wildlife artist. Her portraits proudly hang in homes, banks, libraries and businesses throughout the country. Sally was a longtime invited participant of Art Fairs at the Plaza, Ward Parkway and Metcalf South, as well as the Ducks Unlimited National Wildlife Shows. She was a also a co-founder of Better Horses Network Newspaper.
Sally is survived by her daughter Diane (Bruce) Hull of Lincoln, NE, son Michael Dwyer and partner Jef Foley of Spring Hill, KS, grandsons Tyler (Melissa) Hull of Austin, TX, and Brad Hull and girlfriend Jenny Lowrey of Kansas City, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Fred.
At the request of the Dwyer family, there will be no public viewing as Sally's wishes were for cremation.
