Ryan David Carson Snell, 22, of Olathe, Kansas, was welcomed into his heavenly home on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. He was born on December 15, 2001 in Kansas City, Missouri to David and Gwendolyn (Shelton) Snell.
Ryan was born 3 months early, weighing 1 pound 4 oz. He fought an amazing fight from the very beginning. A real miracle from God. Through all of his health struggles at birth, he overcame many obstacles and had an unimaginable resilience for life. He attended Madison Place Elementary, Kansas State School for the Blind, Olathe West and finally Options Residential & Day Services. Ryan had a LOVE for music, singing, spelling, talking on the phone with his Grandma, electronic toys, spending time with family and dog Rosie. Throughout Ryan's life he was involved in YMCA Challenger baseball, SOAR Special Needs Camp and was blessed by Variety KC Childrens Charities with a bike and training camp with the KC Royals. Everyone that met him loved him.
Ryan is survived by his mother, Gwen Benegas (Douglas), father, David Snell (Nan), twin sister Madison, grandmother Geri Whitsitt, (step siblings) Lindey Glenn, Lisa Benegas, Tony Benegas, Layne Wickey, aunts Dale Shelton, Susan Sendar, uncles Dennis Shelton, Eddie Snell and many extended family.
He was preceded in death by his sister Samantha, grandparents Windle (Shirley) Shelton, Rev. John Whitsitt, Albert (Jeanne) Snell.
The family will receive guests for a visitation from 10:00-11:00 am on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Penwell Gabel's Olathe Chapel, the Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 am, with burial in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Ryan's memory be made to SOAR Special Needs Camp, 12201 W 88th St, Lenexa, KS 66215.
